The Music Spot
The first lesson is always the most important step. This is a great opportunity for you and I to get to know one another for the first time. The first lesson is also a great opportunity for me to get to understand your playing level. This will enable us to properly choose music that is suitable for your level of playing. Music is chosen so that it is interesting to you and which will also offer a suitable challenge.
Many beginner students aren't sure where to start. The best way to start is to take a half hour lesson every week. In most cases, lessons incorporate a warm-up session, a review of the previous week's homework (pieces and technique), as well as learning a new concept in a new piece. In many instances, half an hour is the perfect amount of time for beginners. Of course, if you feel you need more time, hour lessons are always available!
The advanced program is designed for students who already have a good understanding of their instrument. Perhaps you are preparing for a grade 8, 9, 10 or ARCT exam. Perhaps you are auditioning for university music programs. These lessons are often one hour in length or more and go into the necessary details to bring about a polished and professional performance.
